The day I became your mother, my world changed instantly. I wasn’t ready to be a mother, but I am so grateful I put my faith in God and saw it through.

The day I became your mother, I didn’t cry initially. I wasn’t happy; it wasn’t about just me anymore, but I now know the meaning of selflessness. Everything I am is because of you.

The day I became your mother, time stood still for a moment. I wasn’t 100% sure that this was my life, I just gave birth to a baby, I just gave birth to a baby!

The day I became your mother, I was exhausted, physically and mentally. I wasn’t prepared to endure the sleepless nights ahead, but those sleepless nights became some of my favorite nights we shared together.

The day I became your mother, I was overwhelmed with uncertainty. I wasn’t sure about your father and my future together. I was uncertain about how I would take care of a little baby by myself, I was uncertain about how different my life would quickly become if I had to do it alone.

The day I became your mother, I was filled with fear. I was afraid of not being able to be a good mom to you, I didn’t know how to be a mother. I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to do it, that my maternal instinct wouldn’t kick in, and I’d be lost.

But,

The day I became your mother, I instantly understood the definition of unconditional love. I was never sure there was such a thing, but my heart felt full every time I saw your little face look up at mine. I had begun to feed a love I didn’t recognize.

The day I became your mother, my faith in the Lord tripled. I stopped living for me and started asking God for a path for us. I pray every night for you, and your future. I pray you remain the happiest, healthiest most perfect girl.

The day I became your mother, I felt a sense of purpose. I wasn’t completely lost without you, but my purpose became so clear, I was meant for this, being your mother was my divine purpose.

The day I became your mother, I knew life was going to be tough, but I knew this journey was also going to bring me so much happiness. And that is exactly what you have brought me.

The day I became your mother, is the day I became me.

Thank you.
