BIO: As a wife and working mom of 3 with an unbridled interest in natural products, Chantel Powell found herself frequently whipping up all-natural body care concoctions for her family. She could not have imagined the price her nose would have to pay while shuttling Kam between summer basketball camp and football practice. “You smell like a grown man!” she would tell him. At 6 years-old, her sweet little Kam was now a smelly kid. One day after picking him up, her car smelled more like an NFL locker room than the freshly detailed automobile it was. Chantel refused to settle for! Chantel set out to purchase deodorant for Kam and discovered there was nothing on the market that she both trusted, and was “fresh” enough for him to be excited about putting on every day. With the lack of chemical-free kid friendly deodorants on the market, coupled with her experience at creating products herself, she created her own for him. Once Kam started wearing it, always wanting to help others, he had the idea of “Mom, you should be making this for everybody”! From there word-of-mouth spread; from his team, to their mothers, to friends to complete strangers! Play Pits was saving noses.

Peta-Gaye Samuda-Palmer , CEO of Jencare Skin Farm, is an esthetician, chemist, skin care coach, and most importantly a wife and mother. Jencare Skin Farm was founded by her mother the late Jennifer Samuda O.D. 35 years ago. Peta-Gaye grew up around the industry and was able to witness the way her mother guided the company from a small home based business to the largest spa in the Caribbean. She joined the company while at university and played a supporting role as an esthetician, and operations manager. After completing her Masters degree in Chemistry she worked with her Mom to launch her own product line Nextjen by Jencare. The success of that line led to further opportunities to develop products targeting many of the skin challenges faced by our community. She took the helm as CEO in 2010 and has already made her mark. She guided the company through the loss of her mother, and company founder. She drives change through pivotal human and technology investments believing that great people and processes lead to a great product. At her core she is an esthetician with a love for everything skin and so she spends most of her days in her facial room seeing clients. Sometimes at the spa you’ll see her son Josiah, 3 years old, or Jennifer Skye, 7 months old, making the rounds. One afternoon here and it’s clear, family is at the heart of this business. Peta-Gaye is determined to keep it that way as they continue to drive growth. Check out her company Jencare Skin Farm at www.shopjencare.com

I am an architecture grad turned home decor and stylist who started my business from home after finding my passion in helping busy moms re-create their home spaces by bringing multi-functionality and design together. Before I was laid off Monday, I was also working as a full time lighting designer consultant so juggling everything was hectic as a new mom and entrepreneur, but I was determined to bring all my expertise to ladies who needed it most. When I’m not in my notepad sketching or behind my computer screen, you can find me enjoying running. I love track and field and never lost my love for it once I left the career after my college graduation. I think the community I’ve always had amongst my lady teammates is the same I crave in my postpartum journey. Being surrounded by my lady tribe has brought me through difficult challenges that now I bring in all my projects. Every lady deserves to feel loved, supported, and worthy of a beautiful home she can call hers.

BIO:
In the small town of Jones Creek, TX, I was raised in church as a PK (pastor’s kid). I began participating in ministry at a young age when I started singing and praise dancing. Little did I know, ministry would be a life-long journey for me. While in college, I found my church home, Greater Mt. Zion. There I became more involved in ministry, grew as a leader, gained a spiritual family, and accepted my call to preach.
Though preaching was never a desire of mine or even a thought in my mind, I understood that when God calls, you answer. The best part about finding my church is that it’s also the place where I found my husband, Pastor Vecente Coatney. Not only have we been making beautiful ministry together, but we’ve also made a beautiful baby, our amazing son whom we affectionately call “Third”. He is my absolute biggest blessing and motherhood is my greatest achievement.

BIO
BIO: I am a girl in my early 30’s that loves family nights, girls trips, new experiences, all the “finer things in life”, my husband, and my son (Moo). I also have my bachelors degree in psychology and my MBA.
What does all that mean? That means while experiencing the “finer things in life”, I have accumulated about 10+ years of debt that includes medical bills, auto loans, credit cards, 401k loans, personal loans, mortgage loans, and most regrettably, student loans. Just for clarification, I do not regret my degrees (they are the reason for my current income bracket), but I whole heartedly regret utilizing loans to obtain them.
About 1 year before the launch of this blog, I had $118,069 of debt (not including my mortgage), about 85% of my monthly expenses were debt payments and I realized at the rate I was paying my debt I would be in debt for at least the next 30 years. I started to fantasize about a debt free life saying to myself “what if my monthly income was used on only experiences that made life gratifying”. This was only a fantasy because I had never witnessed this life. Everyone I knew was in debt. No one talked about their debt because debt was normal for my community. Paying off a home or student loans was never a thought in my mind because I thought you were supposed to pay a 30-year mortgage or your student loans until you were ready to retire. A light bulb went off, and I realized that it is actually possible to live the life I fantasized about. It was at that moment when I decided to get out of debt and live the life I imagined.
Here we are, 2 years later and I have paid off over $55,000 of debt and I’m not stopping anytime soon! I documented every step that I took and now I want to share the information that I‘ve learned and help those like me that never knew a life of financial freedom was possible. I also want to use this platform to hold myself accountable for reaching my financial goals and share my progress and lessons throughout the journey.

My name is Dr. LaToya Wiggins and I am a wellness coach for busy moms. I believe no woman should struggle to take care of herself due to having a busy life. Therefore, I give women with young children a mental makeover! I show them how to find the necessary self-care time to be happier and healthier, so they can avoid hospital visits as a result of stress and burnout!
My passion for coaching women with young children came about due to my own experience with struggling to find balance in my life while raising a family and having a career. Trying to manage my time, stress, weight, eating habits, and energy, while trying to show up as the best mom and wife I could be seemed impossible most days. Finding the Health Coach Institute, where I received my certifications in health and life coaching, was one of the best things that have happened in my life. Learning transformational coaching methods have helped me to adopt healthy habits and keep up with the hustle and bustle of life. I have been managing my weight, exercising regularly, eating healthy, feeling more energized, feeling less stressed, and finding time to do pleasurable activities more often.
Going through my own transformation, mentally and physically, has made my passion to help other women with young children even greater. I provide a space for busy moms to get clear on their desires and provide the right support, the right system, and the right accountability they need in order to transform into the best version of themselves.
I live in Baltimore, MD with my loving husband and two handsome sons. Outside of wellness coaching, I am a Doctor of Physical Therapy in the inpatient hospital setting. A few things I enjoy include Soca’Robics, dancing, step classes, comedy shows, and traveling.

We live in just outside of Atlanta where over a decade ago I feel in love with the area (it reminded me of where I was raised back in California), so it was only right to further build OpinionaTEEd, Inc here.
One motto of mine is, “Making magic happen every day but not before…coffee”; It’s just something that gets my synergy flowing. I enjoy listening to audiobooks and podcast, ya girl is a little late to the podcast game, so I’m still taking suggestions on good ones. I’m a firm believer that education does not stop once you leave public or private school, it just become more hyper focused on certain areas or skills. My intention with OpinionaTEEd is to stylishly encourage women to express themselves without reservations — to convey their meaningful opinions, passions, or sense of humor. I wanted to give women apparel and tools that make their lives better. This led me to create a space, MIA Girls, to inspire, grow, and help women achieve their goals.
In the words of Hillary Clinton, “…never doubt that you are valuable and powerful, and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams” If you desire to cultivate strength and courage while developing your inner grace, then join the MIA Girls.
And please remember this…EVERYTHING you need exist inside of you. You MUST believe in YOU, curate a plan, and take action!
BIO
(Boss Mommi) Carissa Stephens is creating the wine we want and need with the recent launch of her and her husband’s ultra-premium wine brand, Pur Noire. Wine has been around for thousands of years but it isn’t every day that the wine maker is a woman of color. “Motherhood and good wine pretty much go hand in hand.” – Carissa
Carissa is a lifestyle blogger and public speaker who has been a wine enthusiast for many years. Over the past couple of years, her love and interest for wine grew as she began developing her palette and along with husband, Kenneth, learning as much as she could about the industry. The couple decided it was time to create a product that they were both equally passionate about and to bring something new to market that they had not yet seen.
Pur Noire is crafted with passion and quality in the world-famous wine making region of Napa Valley, California. Based in Houston, Carissa is often back and forth between the two cities for business and to manage operations of Pur Noire. The couple is working with some of the most skilled wine makers in the country who have a reputation for crafting high point, quality wine. “Bottled wine is like poetry and the winemaker is the artist.”
The brand launched on March 21, 2020 and is shipping out wine daily to customers in 44 states. They currently offer three varietals; a rich and bold Red Blend (Pur Epiphany, name inspired by the moment they decided they were destined to become wine makers), a light and refreshing Pinot Grigio (Pur Elevation), and an intensely aromatic and delightful Rosé (Pur Euphoria).
Pur Noire is available exclusively online and will ship directly to your doorstep, safely and with care. On their website, you can purchase your bottles, learn more about their wines, their story and view upcoming (virtual) events from the brand. They also offer Wine Club membership for discounts and other perks which you can learn more about on their website. So get your cases, get your bottles… and raise a glass. Here’s to motherhood and appreciating the little things we sometimes time for granted. Like self-care and the ability to simply sit with a beautiful glass of wine from one Mommi to another. You deserve it. Cheers!

Taraza Tyler, a native of Rose Hill, North Carolina, successfully turned a passion into nonprofit. She is the Founder of P.O.W.E.R., Inc. Community, which focuses on Parents Owning Wealth Through Education and Resiliency.
Pulling from personal experience, Taraza noticed a lack of readily available resources that would empower, educate, and equip the single mother and father on a daily basis. Advocating for the single parent community, Ms. Tyler intends to break barriers that have been set by generational miseducation of financial responsibility, mental and physical health. Mother to Mother and Father to Father are two programs that dive deep into addressing the matters and currently meet twice a month. With her ear to the ground, Taraza has a personable approach, connecting a growing number of community single mothers and fathers with free resources, programs, mentors and scholarships. In the past year, Taraza has partnered with several nonprofit organizations, agencies, counselors, financial coaches, accountants, and college advisors to assist single parents with a successful life with their loved ones and is currently proactive in homeownership assistance. Her mantra is: “I was once a single mother with very few resources, so I have a special place in my heart for other single mothers and fathers in difficult situations. My purpose is to assist the single parent community by taking back their P.O.W.E.R.
