I always thought my life was hectic and busy before becoming a mom, and although I trained for the 400 meters in track and field, the hardest sprint race on the track, nothing prepared me for motherhood. It is the most exciting, exhilarating and exhausting job I’ve ever had. And although I wouldn’t trade it for the world, I’m also fighting to keep the things I’ve always loved an integral part of my life.
I’ve always loved fashion
Fashion has always been a huge part of my life.
I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t getting dressed up. Even as a kid, getting ready for school was a highlight, getting dressed to go on vacation and most importantly standing out on the track.
People always asked me, how do you compete with such long hair, and makeup, and matching sleeves, isn’t it all very distracting?
NO! I always felt it was important to look good which made me feel good and it turn perform good! Fashion has always been a very freeing expression for me that gave me great confidence and embracing it in every part of my life was important.
This I know for sure…
There’s nothing more unstoppable than a confident woman.
This truth has never changed for me, but motherhood has definitely made it more challenging to always get it right and to find the time to squeeze in to run to the mall or order new pieces.
I’ve always prioritized taking family photos and celebrating moments together but it’s the simple moments or things just for me that often times feel overwhelming or get put on the back burner.
Too important to let it go!
I knew I needed to find a way to always look great again without the process taking up too much of my time.
I mean I have a beautiful family right?!? And I want to spend as much quality time with them, not just styling them!
So, I was overjoyed when I found out that getting styled looks for me and my family was as easy as texting a Nordstrom stylist. Right from my phone, I can reach out to a talented, enthusiastic bunch of stylists that are always eager to help.
You tell them exactly what you need, or where you’re headed and the floodgate of possibilities flow!
It’s almost therapeutic! The thrill of guided shopping without the hassle of leaving your home.
It’s so easy and there are never any obligations to buy.
Check out my most recent experience with my stylist Virginia!
DATE NIGHT
I had been gone to Tokyo, working for two weeks. I was seriously missing my hubby but knew there would be so much to do when I got home with my son and moving and all the things that it would have been hard to go to the mall and orchestrate a date night.
But we needed a moment!
So, I reached out to my Nordstrom stylist and she helped me pull the perfect look together. I wanted fun, flirty and sexy. My hubby loved it. He was all smiles all night and I was delighted that it only took me a few text messages to get it all done!
GRABBING THE ESSENTIALS
I know we all have them, somewhere, but there’s nothing like a new fresh white button down and a great fitting pair of jeans! This time when I reached out to Virgina, I told her I was tired of laying around in yoga pants and sweatshirts and I needed a few new basics to freshen up my closet. I loved her selections! She was so thorough, she even recommended the boots!!! My kind of girl.
Upgrading my look
As I continue my transition from athlete to TV personality I get calls and opportunities all the time to meet new people. Since we all know you only get one chance to make a first impression, I try to make the most of it every time! I told Virgina, I wanted something strong, and bold! I wanted to OWN the room and she delivered! This black leather number is EVERYTHING!
To say I had a good experience with my Nordstrom stylist would be a vast understatement. It was incredible, and I now have a secret weapon when it comes to getting different looks for every occasion!
Hope you guys will check them out too!
Until next time
