Sweet & Tangy BBQ Chicken:

Split Chicken Breasts

  • Chicken Legs
  • (Other parts as desired)
  • Soy Sauce
  • Coarse Sea Salt
  • Granulated Garlic
  • Onion
  • Honey BBQ Sauce
  • Ketchup
  • White Sugar

Preheat oven to 380 degrees.

Sweet and Tangy BBQ Sauce:

In a bowl, combine 2 cups of honey barbecue sauce such as Sweet Baby Rays

  • 1 cup Ketchup
  • 1/2 cup white sugar

Stir to combine and set aside.

In a large mixing bowl season as follows per pound of chicken:

  • 2tbsp low sodium soy sauce
  • 1tsp coarse sea salt
  • 1tsp garlic powder

Add ½ a thinly sliced yellow onion to the bowl and rub to combine all seasonings.

Be sure to season under and on the skin of the chicken.

Grease a glass or metal baking dish with 2tbsp oil like vegetable or canola and place chicken in the pan, keeping the pieces 1 inch apart.

Cover with foil and bake at 380 degrees for 40 minutes.

Remove chicken from the oven and use a brush to glaze each piece with a generous layer of bbq sauce.

Set oven to high broil and broil chicken until sauce begins to bubble and blacken in spots, about 5 minutes. Watch closely.

Remove from oven and gently dab on an additional layer of bbq sauce.

Return chicken to the oven and broil an additional 5 minutes until chicken has that fresh off the grill look.

Optional: Top with finely chopped parsley for color and presentation.
