ESSAY CONTEST
Rules:
To enter, students and/or parent/guardians are encouraged to fill out the online Contest Signup form, indicating their intent to enter the contest, including the line on the form giving parental consent. Contest updates and deadline reminders will be sent to the email address used when signing up for the contest.
Qualifications:
The I’m Black and I’m Proud Essay is open to all United States citizens or legal residents who are students in grades 1st-5th and are 5 to 12 years old at the time of entry, attending public, private, religious, home school program and charter schools. Students must attend school in one of the 50 States, District of Columbia, all U.S. Territories, or American Armed Forces Schools abroad.
Student’s age and grade must appear on entry.
At least 150 words describing What it Means to Be Black and Proud
Oratorical Contest
Say Their Names Oratorical Contest is open to all United States citizens or legal residents who are students in grades 1st-12th and are 5 to 18years old at the time of entry, attending public, private, religious, home school program and charter schools. Students must attend school in one of the 50 States, District of Columbia, all U.S. Territories, or American Armed Forces Schools abroad. All prepared orations must be 60-90 seconds and must include contemporary black icons such as, but not limited to, George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Elijah McClain, Mike Brown, Sandra Bland, and Trayvon Martin.
Prizes include $100 Nike Gift Card, $50 in MommiNation kid apparel and exclusive Black2School signature Tee-shirts. Registration ends August 20, 2020, at 11:59pmEST and the winners will be announced on Friday, August 21st!
