Hey Mommies! We’ve survived a few weeks of quarantine and there’s at least another month of this ahead. These are some very trying times. I don’t know one person that can say that they saw this coming. I know that we’ve all been suddenly thrown into some very new (harsh) realities. New ways of living, new roles we have to play, new schedules and routines. Our lives will probably never be the same as they were just a couple weeks ago.
With so much uncertainty in our future, now is the best time to go inward. All the excuses of never having enough time for God won’t fly anymore. We can’t wake up an hour early because of this, or stay up late because of that, no longer suffice. It’s almost as if God purposely slowed the whole world down with the intention of drawing us all closer to Him.
While this is a great time to hone in on your craft and go hard on that side-hustle, this is also the time to focus on strengthening your bond with God. If you already have a good relationship going with Him, this is a chance to take it to the next level. Great and wonderful things are on the horizon for the Universe! Use this time to start the true manifestation of your destiny. These are four tools that can take your spiritual journey to the next level and have you walking in your 2.0 self when the dust settles.
Praying
Prayer literally changes things. Attitudes, finances, health. You name it, and a prayer can fix it. It doesn’t always have to be some huge spectacle, down on your knees, starting with “Our Heavenly Father” and ending with “The blood of Jesus”. It can be a simple, casual conversation between you and the Divine Spirit. Right now with frustrations and overwhelm at their peaks, I’m talking to God all day long. Turning every thought into a prayer keeps the worry away. It also helps a lot to find or create your own prayer circle. An intimate group of women that share your same goals and desires. Y’all can gain wisdom and insight from each other by doing devotionals together in the YouVerse Bible app. Connect with your sis. There are all kinds of free prayer challenges and bible studies on Pinterest. You can do them alone or in a group.
I don’t know what it is, but getting your thoughts out of your head and writing them down onto the piece of paper in front of you, helps to bring a sense of clarity. You can actually see your thoughts and feelings, and deal with them. Whether those emotions are good or bad, journaling is a good way to get to know yourself. You can reflect on the past, and write the vision for your future. The world is creating history right now. This is the best time to keep a daily journal of the things that are happening in our lives and all around us. What we’re thinking, how we’re feeling, what we’re watching and reading. What do you want to tell your great-grandkids about these days? Write it all out.
Affirming
Speaking the right words over our lives right now is critical. A lot of people are in a state of fear and anxiety that is rising as this virus is starting to hit closer and closer to home. The best way to combat those negative thoughts and the lies is to speak life over you and your family. Be very specific, and speak in the present tense. Give yourself that pep talk girl! Be mindful of the way you speak about your loved ones when they are not around. Instead of letting the complaints casually spill out of your mouth, look for compliments to give. Give thanks. Be intentional about your thoughts and words. Challenge yourself for the rest of the week. Instead of saying “I have to…” say “I get to…”. You don’t have to be stuck in the house for a month. You get to spend some much needed quality time with the people that mean the most to you.
Fasting
I look at fasting like a direct link to God. I do this when it feels like I’m standing on the edge of a cliff, toes dangling, and I think I’m about to fall over. You know, when the shit hits the fan. I simply dial His number and He picks up immediately. And fasting isn’t limited to just food only. It’s the sacrifice of anything that you enjoy. Giving up that thing and replacing it with prayer, worship, meditation, or anything to connect. When we fast and pray we can unlock miracles! Be sure to establish a timeframe and an objective, and get ready to bask in the presence of the Lord. When I’m fasting I can hear God clearly. With everything going on, it’s a time to be still and listen for new instructions, new guidance and new purpose, making sure we’re on the right path.
Also, it’s ok to take a day (or a week) away from news outlets and social media over the next few months. Everyone will still be there, sitting in their homes, when YOU are ready to return.
It’s so important to connect with our internal guidance now more than ever. Use this lockdown as an opportunity to grow. This is the restart we’ve all been waiting for. A once in a lifetime chance! You can re-emerge as the woman wife and mother that you’ve always wanted to be. Step into the role of the true co-creator of your life. Become your greatest self!
Let’s vow to come out of this better. Better individuals, better families, better as a collective people. Be safe, and stay home.
Light and Love,
Mommi Destiny Aja
