MommiNation is a multimedia platform that strives to be the most reliable resource and virtual community specifically for black mommies. Co-Owners Sanya Richards-Ross and Mykal Steen believe that advocacy, experience and education are essential to bring equity to the black mom experience. They are committed to shifting cultural norms, connecting women globally, and bringing resources directly to the community.

In 2022 we launched MommiNation Gives Inc., the social responsibility branch of MommiNation, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on supporting black moms in every way through their motherhood journey. With our first fundraising brunch we were able to raise over $100,000 for displaced/homeless moms and this year we strive to do even more!

We are set to host our second fundraising initiative focused on providing black mommies the Gold Standard in healthcare by improving Black Maternal Health and decreasing the Black Maternal Mortality Rate. This initiative is a Brunch hosted in Atlanta Georgia October 21, 2023.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) In 2020, in the United States there were 19.1 deaths for 100k live births for white women, and 18.2 deaths per 100k live births for Hispanic women compared to 55.3 deaths per 100k live births for black women which is 3x more than our white counterparts. This number increased to 68.9 in 2021. What is also shocking is that these numbers have increased year over year. With technologic advancement in this countries, presumably lives would be saved but instead Black moms are dying more and more frequently and black children are leaving hospitals without their mothers.

MommiNation Gives wants to do our part in giving black mommies the Gold Standard by improving black maternal health and decrease the black maternal mortality rate, saving lives, one Mommi at a time while also celebrating the lives of the advocates that make significant strides to reduce these tragic Statistics.
